ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai celebrated Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Divas on 16th October 2017
ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai celebrated Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Divas on 16th October 2017. The programme was conducted under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director CIFE who has a firm belief that women play a very important role in fisheries and agricultural development. This day was celebrated by organising series of lectures for the youth of CIFE.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Kiran Dube, Principal Scientist, Aquaculture Division. She elaborated the success story of women empowerment through ornamental fisheries in Dimbhe reservoir in Maharashtra.
This was followed by a lecture delivered by Dr. S. N. Ojha, Head, FEES Division who spoke on the Historical Perspective of Women in Fisheries and Policy issues.
Dr. Arpita Sharma, Principal Scientist, FEES Division in her talk emphasized on the social construction of gender and multi-dimensional role of women in pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest sector.
The programme ended with a better understanding of role of women in fisheries and aquaculture development.
