Dr. J. K. Jena, Hon’ble Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR New Delhi, along with Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director & Vice–Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and Dr. Sudhir Raizada, Assistant Director General (Inland Fisheries), ICAR New Delhi, visited ICAR-CIFE, Kakinada Centre on 21st October 2016. He had inaugurated the newly renovated office building of ICAR-CIFE, Kakinada centre.
They had visited brackishwater fish farm and freshwater fish farm and have gone through the various research activities at both the farms. Deputy Director General had interacted with the Bihar farmers from siwan district who are undergoing skill development training at the centre. He had also interacted with the one-year certificate course students and discussed about their course curriculum. Dr. Muralidhar P. Ande, Officer Incharge of ICAR-CIFE, Kakinada centre presented a brief report about the Kakinada Centre comprising of various research, academic, training and extension activities of the centre.
He suggested to take-up focused research activities which will be immediate requirement to the farmers. Dr. Sudhir Raizada, Assistant Director General (Inland Fisheries) suggested to discontinue Pengba breeding at the centre as CIFA & CAU has already done mass scale seed production of Pengba Fish. A meeting was conducted on the freshwater fish farm land lease issue with the officials from Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati. Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director & Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai appraised the activities of ICAR-CIFE Kakinada centre and emphasised the need of research activities at ICAR-CIFE Kakinada centre. Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), Assistant Director General (Inland Fisheries) & Director & Vice–Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE appreciated the efforts made by the Scientists, Technical Officers and other Staff of the Centre.
