Motipur Centre
ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Motipur Centre is one of the five regional centres of ICAR-CIFE, established to support fisheries education, research, training, and extension activities in eastern India. It is located at Motipur in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar and serves as an important freshwater aquaculture research and demonstration centre. The centre has about 14 hectares of freshwater fish farm facilities used for practical training and research in aquaculture. The major activities of the Motipur Centre include training fish farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and fisheries professionals through skill development programmes, short-term training, and demonstrations on fish seed production, aquaculture management, ornamental fish culture, feed and health management. It also conducts region-specific research, technology dissemination, and extension services for improving fish farming practices in the region. Outreach programmes such as National Fish Farmers Day celebrations, exhibitions, and farmer-scientist interactions are also regularly organized.
